Dax's teacher asked each of the kids how to make pancakes.  This is how Dax would make his pancakes!

Polar Express Train Ride, Palestine TX

Dax is really into Christmas this year and loves everything about Santa.  He calls Santa, "Ho Ho" which I think is so cute.  He also thinks anyone or thing with a Santa Hat on is a Ho Ho!  I had heard about the Polar Express train ride in Palestine and thought Dax would really enjoy it.  So, we bought our tickets and headed to Palestine.  The Fielder Family and My parents joined us.  It's about a 3 hour drive so we decided to get a hotel room so we did not have to spend the whole day in the car.

Once you board the train they serve you hot cocoa and give you a little Christmas treat.  The train conductor also walks through and punches each ticket which Dax thought was really neat and took his picture with him. During the ride they read the Polar Express story and then we arrive at the North Pole.  Santa gets on the train and walks through each car and gives the children little bells.  (My only complaint is I wish Santa would have stayed on the train longer than just run through). On the way back, we sang Christmas songs and good ole time.

Festival of Lights, Moody Garden Galveston

Moody Gardens in Galveston has the Festival of Lights every year for Christmas.  This year they started having a snow area for the kids on Friday nights.  We planned a trip with Danielle and John and one of their little boys Wade.  The lights were pretty neat for the kids because they have several different animals and scenes for the kids.  The now was area was a hit.  Although, the area was tiny and the snow had melted and was pretty slippery Dax loved it.  He made several snow balls and had a blast.  Here are a few pictures from the night.

Conversation With Dax...

As most of you know, Don has a major obsession with hunting.  Don was getting ready for a long weekend hunting trip packing his bags.  I was sitting on the couch and Dax came into the living room and we had this conversation:

Dax: "Mommy, I am going to go hunting with Daddy.  I will be back tomorrow."
Mommy: "What? You are going hunting with Daddy."
Dax: "Yes, Mommy."
Mommy: I started to act sad, and Dax ran up to me put his hand on my leg and said, "Mommy, you want to go? You can come with us."

He is just the sweetest little boy.  I know, the day will come sooner than I like when Dax takes off with Daddy on their hunting trips.  I know it will be a bittersweet bonding time for them.  I better start being a hunter or I will have many lonely weekends.

Just a few cute pictures of Dax!

We went to New Braunfels this past weekend and ended in Gruene which is one of my favorite places.  Here are a few pictures of Dax playing.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween was so much fun this year.  Dax really got into it and was a blast to watch.  He was not scared and went and knocked on the doors and ran to the next house.  He was very generous and said "Thank You" to everyone.  We went to New Hope Church before since they were having a festival.  It was a lot of fun.  They had The Rockin Fossils singing along with lots of treats and fun for the whole family.  Dax got his face painted for the first time and participated in trying to knock down the GIANT pumpkin pinata.

Pumpkin Carving and Painting Time!

After we picked our perfect pumpkins we carved one and painted the other.  Dax had to decorate a pumpkin for school to bring to his class.  We painted a puppy dog pumpkin. It turned out really cute.  Dax loved his little puppy pumpkin.  He was supposed to leave it at school but we had to bring the pumpkin home with us everyday and then bring it back to school the next day.

Pumpkin Patch Time!

I love this time of year and all the fall festivals.  I love taking Dax to the pumpkin patch.  This year he was a little more into looking at the pumpkins.  He actually picked out his very own pumpkin and carried it around with him.  We took him as a family with Amy and McKenna.

School Halloween Party!

Dax's school had a Halloween party.  I signed up to bring fruit but I did not just want to bring boring fruit and wanted my creation to have a Halloween theme.  My friend Amy also had to make something for her daughter's school party.  She found some adorable banana ghosts online so I wanted to copy her idea.  Amy and McKenna came over and we got to work on making what seemed to be easy banana ghost.  Let me tell you what a mess.  Dax and McKenna were both extra crabby and made our night a bit challenging.  Amy ended up leaving early and I had to run to the store to get extra chocolate.  After many hours I finally finished my banana ghost.  Next year, Dax's class might just get a plain ole fruit cup!!

A Day at the Zoo!

I really wish I could stay home or atleast a few days with Dax during the week.  Sometimes I just have random play dates with Dax to spend some extra time with him.  Today we went to the zoo.  We went with Marissa which is my oldest friend I have had and we have known eachother since kindergarten.  She took her daughter Ellen and the little girl she watches during the day.  We just did the normal zoo stuff like the petting zoo, rode the train, and looked at all the animals.

Being just cute like always!

Happy Birthday Dad, my Hero!

This weekend we had a family weekend at the beach house for Dad's 59th birthday.  It turned out to be a beautiful weekend.  The weather was great and company was even better.  It's a rare occasion for the wholefamily to come to the beach house but I am working on making it happen more often. We spent some time at the beach, fishing, eating and great stories. Happy Birthday Dad!! You are such a wonderful Father and such an inspiration to me.
