Pumpkin Carving and Painting Time!

After we picked our perfect pumpkins we carved one and painted the other.  Dax had to decorate a pumpkin for school to bring to his class.  We painted a puppy dog pumpkin. It turned out really cute.  Dax loved his little puppy pumpkin.  He was supposed to leave it at school but we had to bring the pumpkin home with us everyday and then bring it back to school the next day.

Pumpkin Patch Time!

I love this time of year and all the fall festivals.  I love taking Dax to the pumpkin patch.  This year he was a little more into looking at the pumpkins.  He actually picked out his very own pumpkin and carried it around with him.  We took him as a family with Amy and McKenna.

School Halloween Party!

Dax's school had a Halloween party.  I signed up to bring fruit but I did not just want to bring boring fruit and wanted my creation to have a Halloween theme.  My friend Amy also had to make something for her daughter's school party.  She found some adorable banana ghosts online so I wanted to copy her idea.  Amy and McKenna came over and we got to work on making what seemed to be easy banana ghost.  Let me tell you what a mess.  Dax and McKenna were both extra crabby and made our night a bit challenging.  Amy ended up leaving early and I had to run to the store to get extra chocolate.  After many hours I finally finished my banana ghost.  Next year, Dax's class might just get a plain ole fruit cup!!

A Day at the Zoo!

I really wish I could stay home or atleast a few days with Dax during the week.  Sometimes I just have random play dates with Dax to spend some extra time with him.  Today we went to the zoo.  We went with Marissa which is my oldest friend I have had and we have known eachother since kindergarten.  She took her daughter Ellen and the little girl she watches during the day.  We just did the normal zoo stuff like the petting zoo, rode the train, and looked at all the animals.

Happy Birthday Dad, my Hero!

This weekend we had a family weekend at the beach house for Dad's 59th birthday.  It turned out to be a beautiful weekend.  The weather was great and company was even better.  It's a rare occasion for the wholefamily to come to the beach house but I am working on making it happen more often. We spent some time at the beach, fishing, eating and great stories. Happy Birthday Dad!! You are such a wonderful Father and such an inspiration to me.

New Orleans Trip!

My Grandparents lived and got married in the famous St. Louis Cathedral almost 62 years ago and they had not been back to visit in years.  Me, Mom, Dax and the Grandparents loaded the car and made a road trip to take them back down memory lane.  It was a very special trip and so glad we were able to do this for them.

We did a lot of walking and eating but we also got to see so many families members we had not seen in years.  We got to see PawPaw's sister Aunt Maggie, MawMaw's brother and wife, Uncle Pete and Aunt Deanie.  We also meet a couple of their sons.

One of my favorite memories from the trip was going to church in the church they got married in.  It was neat to experience that with them.

The hotel stay was an experience to say the least.  This was Dax's first time to stay in a hotel and he loved it.  We shared a room with my mom and got a king size bed. The second night we were there Dax got a stomach bug around 2 a.m. and started vomiting in the bed for about a hour.  I felt so sorry for him but he woke up like nothing had happened.  The next night around 3 a.m. the fire alarm went off in the hotel.  I woke up everyone and headed down the stairs.  I carried Dax down 18 flights of stairs.  Dax is not a small kid so I sure was a workout.

We also had the chance to meet up with one of my sister in laws, Molly and her daughter Mica and son Rueben.  They had never seen Dax before so that was neat for them to visit.  Rueben is a few months older than Dax and they got along great.

Lake Tahoe with the Dashers!

Don and I slipped away for a long weekend and went to Lake Tahoe with Allison and Ron Dasher who live down the street and have become great friends of ours.  We had never been to Tahoe before and we fell in love with this place.  We stayed at the Hyatt Regency and and the resort was awesome.  It was a little far from the main attractions but we had a great time.  We defiantly would like to go back when there is snow on the ground.
