Unexpected Visit to New Braunfels!

My Mom called me Friday afternoon and asked if we wanted to come visit for the weekend.  It was 2:30 and I was on my way to take Dax to a doctors appointment.  Don was out of town for the weekend and we did not have anything planned for the most part so I said why not! We left the doctor's office I ran over to Ann Taylor and bought me a few new outfits and we headed to New Bruanfels.  Once we got to New Braunfels I stopped at Kohls and bought Dax clothes!  It was a great little get away.  We did not do much but relax and hangout.  I always like to visit Gruene Hall when I am in New Bruanfels.  My wonderful college friend Beth meet us up at Gruene Hall.  I can always count on Beth to drink a few beers and catch up.

Ready or Not we are Boat Owners!

After owning the beach house for 3 years Don could not stand it anymore and we are now officially boat owners!! Don bought a 2001 Pathfinder in excellent condition. I am alittle skepitcal about how this boat is going to effect the marriage but ready or not it's hear! I have a picture in my head that we will go to the beach house and the guys will disappear on the boat for HOURS while the wifes are stuck at the house with the kiddos! I love you honey but I also know you way to well!!

Dax is really excited about the boat. He loves to fish and loves to be on the boat. When we first showed him the boat he was so excited and calls it "His Boat!" The next day we picked him up from daycare with boat hooked up to the car and once he noticed he could not stop giggling the whole way walking to the car and saying, "my boat, my boat momma!!"

Here are a few pictures of us on our first boat ride!!

Father's Day

Here are a few pictures from Father's Day. We went to the local Froggy pool and then went to my Dad's for dinner. It was a nice relaxing day to spend with my family.

Happy Father's Day!

I would have to say that I am one of the most blessed women in the world to have the Father I have. I have such an amazing Father that has raised me to be the person I am today. When we were younger he sacrificed so much for his children and was engaged in every step of the way. He always encouraged us to try new things but never pushed us to hard if we lost interested. One of my favorite stories to share was when I was in the First Grade I wanted to join Brownies because Steven was in Cub Scouts. As most of you know, Brownies was a Mother/Daughter group until Jim Truitt came along. Dad did some research, gathered other little girls my age and started a Brownie group. I did not feel a bit different that it was all the little girls and their Moms but I did feel special that I had my Daddy with me. After being in Brownies for a year I decided to stick with sports!! Thanks Dad for that wonderful experience!!

I am lucky to two men in my live that love me so deeply. Don is a wonderful father to Dax and Dax loves his Daddy. It's a honor watching Don be a Father to Dax everyday. I LOVe you guys!

Viruses, Viruses and more Viruses!

The Satterwhite household has been hit with a couple of viruses this past week. First, Dax got Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. He had a fever on Friday and I started noticing a few blisters forming on his feet. At first I thought they were mosquito bites that had been scratched but over the next few days the blisters were spreading on the bottom of his feet and the palms of his hands. These were nasty looking blisters but Dax did not seem bothered by them at all.

Wednesday, I was putting Dax to bed and we were about to brush his teeth until we were interpreted by the stomach bug. He showed no signs of feeling bad. He threw up a couple times while in the bathroom. Over the next 7 hours he continued to vomit. I made a little pallet next to our bed where he slept or at least tried to sleep. After several dirty towels and sheets Thursday morning he woke up his normal self.

Friday, it was my turn. We loaded up the car with the new boat and headed down to the beach house. We took a cruise in the bay and I started feeling crampy. We got back to the house and I watched Dax fish for awhile. The pain was getting worse and worse so I went upstairs and layed down around 9ish. I would say about 30 minutes later the vomitathon started until 3 o'clock in the morning. Dax work up and started vomiting AGAIN so I threw in the towel and headed to the Galveston ER. By that time Dax was fine and did not vomit anymore. This was his first time to the ER and wanted to make sure he said Hi to everyone that came in sight. I was sent home after taking a pill and basically them telling me there was nothing they could do for me.

Truitt Family Reunion 2010 Galveston TX

We just had our 23rd Truitt Family reunion (I think) this past weekend! When my grandparents were still alive we would always go to their house in Center, TX during the Christmas Holiday. My father and his siblings promised when they passed they would continue the tradition. Since then we have moved it during the summer time because it's to hard during Christmas to get everyone together. My Uncle Jake and family live in Dallas and my Aunt Martha and family live in Oklahoma. We usually rotate from Houston, Dallas and Oklahoma every year. This was the first time to have a destination reunion. It was the best one yet and I look forward to more years to come.

The total in our group has grown to 25. We used our beach house, our kind neighbors let us use their house and we rented a friends condo in Pointe West. Pointe West was a hit because of the pools and beach access.

Ice Cream Ice Cream

Dax LOVES to eat ice cream or popsicles!! We started giving him a special treat after he eats
all of his dinner. I am not huge on giving him lots of sweets so I also freeze orange juice and he loves them just as much. Sometimes while eating breakfast he will he all his breakfast and think he will be getting a popsicle!! Here are a few pictures of him enjoying his popsicle on the front porch.
